Texas Tulips - Pilot Point, Texas

Updated: Apr 3, 2022

We have all seen the pictures of all the beautiful tulip fields in The Netherlands. Rows and rows of tulips. Total spring vibes. Did you know you can experience a little bit of this true European experience in Texas? Yes, Texas! Haha. At Texas-Tulips! In this small town in Texas called Pilot Point, a couple from The Netherlands has a tulip field with dozens of different varieties of beautiful tulips. Perfectly spaced for people to walk between, the rows of tulips are open to the public for people to pick their favorite tulips and create a beautiful bouquet. It may not be as large as what you see in The Netherlands, but it sure offers many different tulips you may have never seen before! Plus where else can you pick tulips straight from the field?

When is the best time to visit?

There are two things to keep in mind when picking the best time to go: 1) Tulips are only in full bloom for a limited amount of time. 2) People pick tulips out of the field when they visit.

The later you go in the season, the more tulips will have been picked, so the fields may be less colorful and abundant than they were earlier in the season. If you go very early in the season, some tulips varieties may not have fully bloomed yet. The sweet spot to go, is somewhere mid-season and definitely before spring break or early in spring break. Either way, no matter when you go, it will be a fun experience! There will always be tulips to pick right up until Texas Tulips closes for the season. Which is never a set date, so keep an eye on their social media. Check out the Texas Tulips website for the opening hours and other information.

How does it work? It is very simple. When you arrive, you pay a small entrance fee. You take a basket and walk along the fields and pick your favorite tulips. Each tulip costs a certain amount, so keep track of how many tulips you pick! At check out, you get to choose the color of paper for your bouquet. They wrap it for you and put a special gel/seal around the stems that keep your tulips in tip-top shape for on the way home. (FYI purchase of tulips isn't mandatory. You can also walk around and take many beautiful pictures.)

Texas Tulips offers a fun activity for the whole family. No matter what age, it is so exciting when you get to walk around rows and rows of tulips and pick your favorites straight from the field! Make a pretty bouquet to enjoy at home, or gift it to someone you love. Plus you can take a bunch of perfect spring pictures!
