Jameson Distillery Midleton, Ireland

Updated: Oct 22, 2022

Original building, Jameson Midleton Distillery Ireland, Jameson Whiskey, Whiskey Distillery and museum

The absolute best place to visit for all the Irish whiskey fans out there! Jameson Midleton is a fantastic distillery that offers the best tours. There is so much to learn about Jameson and the fine art of Irish Whiskey making. The distillery is huge! There's so much to see. Jameson Midleton is the one and only Jameson production facility in the world today.

The distillery is very impressive. It is almost like a campus. There is the visitor center with a sophisticated whiskey tasting room, gift shop, and more. There is the historic distillery that consists of several buildings including the building that contains the world's largest pot still. Then there is the current operational distillery with The Irish Whiskey Academy, the production facility and the 34 warehouses that store the aging Jameson Whiskey barrels.

The tours at Jameson Midleton are fantastic! They offer multiple tours. See all the Jameson tours here. The more in depth tours and also courses are offered here by The Irish Whiskey Academy. I got to experience "The Distiller's Apprentice" tour and it will be featured soon in a future post. It was an amazing 3-hour tour and I have many pictures and videos to share with you guys.

The Irish Whiskey Academy at the Jameson distillery shows the variety of Single Pot Still Irish whiskeys and Blended Irish whiskeys crafted in the Midleton Distillery. Whiskey lines like: The Jameson Family, Powers Collection, Midleton Range, Redbreast, and the Spot whiskeys. Learn more about the different Irish whiskeys here.

Travel Tip: Travel from Dublin to Cork (Midleton) by train. A comfortable and affordable 2-hour train ride trough Ireland. Read more about the experience in my previous post about the Irish Rail.

The very first Jameson distillery is in Dublin. No longer a distillery today but it's a popular spot to visit. If you'd like to read more about the Jameson Bow St experience for comparison, check out my previous post.

TWD's recommendation: If you aren't able to visit both the Jameson Bow St in Dublin and the Jameson Midleton distillery, let the following be a guide in the decision-making. If you're a whiskey enthusiast and/or a big Jameson fan and want the most out of the Jameson experience, then Jameson Midleton definitely is a must-visit. The vibe of this place is elegant and classy.

If you prefer more of a short and sweet experience and enjoy a more upbeat, pub-like and touristy location then Jameson Bow St in Dublin is the way to go.

Explore the historic distillery and enjoy the very best Irish Whiskey. Their whiskey flight menu is impressive. (See menu in gallery below) This is the place to try the rarest and most exclusive whiskeys. Plus a great souvenir to take home > hand fill your own bottle of exclusive cask strength Jameson Black Barrel straight from the cask and sign the ledger. If you love Irish Whiskey, Jameson Midleton is a must-visit!
