Galway is a lively harbor city with lots of character. The famous Claddagh ring originated here back in the 17th century. Ed Sheeran’s music video “Galway girl” was filmed in this city. Galway has lots of culture and history. Great place to shop. Of course for the first-time visitors Claddagh rings and Irish sheep woolens are some of the things to shop for.
Galway has a famous food culture and it's a treat to explore. An absolute wonderful place to enjoy fresh seafood and dishes like amazing fish & chips with mushy peas. The Galway Food Tours offers a culinary tour of the city. The perfect way for both locals and tourists to connect with the Irish culture through the common language of food. There are also many great pubs to explore, like the popular pub "the King’s Head" which I featured in one of my posts here.
On the weekends there is the Galway street market that has been an ongoing tradition for centuries. So many unique things you can find there. When you visit Galway and walk down the streets, enjoy the live Irish folk music for the true Irish feel. (Special shout out to Deck of 4 who were playing when I visited the city)
